Frequently asked questions

What are some important facts regarding implants?

Implants are durable, lasting decades with proper care. They preserve jawbone health. Implants provide stable and natural-looking tooth replacements.Success rates are high, but patient health and oral hygiene play a role. Implant placement is a surgical procedure requiring healing time. Proper maintenance and regular dental visits are essential.

What are my other tooth replacement options?

Other teeth replacement solutions include dental bridges, dentures (partial or complete), and implant-supported dentures, which offer various options for restoring missing teeth.

What is involved in placing a dental implant?

Dental implant procedure is a surgical procedure. The dental implant is inserted into jawbone for healing.

What happens before an implant is placed?

Before a dental implant is placed, a thorough process is followed. This includes an initial consultation to assess candidacy, treatment planning involving imaging and simulation, preparatory procedures if needed, discussion of anesthesia, and creation of a surgical guide for precise placement. Informed consent is obtained, and pre-operative instructions are provided. These steps ensure the success of the implant procedure by assessing oral health, bone density, and structuring a tailored treatment plan, ultimately contributing to the long-term stability of the implant.

What is the healing time for dental implants?

The healing time for dental treatments can vary widely depending on the specific procedure performed, the individual patient's overall health, and how well post-operative care is followed. After dental implant surgery, osseointegration which is the process of the implant fusing with the jawbone, can take up to several months.

Every surgical procedure carries potential risks. You should always consult with a dental professional prior to treatment. Potential risk factors may vary depending on medical or other conditions of each patient. The possibility of immediate placement and the use of a prosthetic tooth depends on many factors, such as bone presence and quality, dental history, implant location, and availability of the final restoration. Your clinician will fully describe the possible scenarios to you during consultation prior to surgery. Every surgical procedure carries potential risks. Consult your clinician to find out if dental implants are right for you.
